In July 2025, Siem Confucius entered drydock at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Gdańsk, Poland — her first since delivery in 2020. The visit marked a key milestone in the vessel’s operational lifecycle, coinciding with her five-year Special Survey and providing a window for essential inspections and maintenance.

This process, though routine in the maritime world, plays a vital role in keeping vessels like Siem Confucius safe, efficient and fully compliant with global standards.

As part of the Special Survey requirements, Siem Confucius underwent a complete out-of-water inspection, including hull cleaning and full checks on structural integrity and machinery. The rudder, propeller and sea valves were overhauled to support long-term reliability.

The vessel’s LNG propulsion system — central to SIEM’s low-emission strategy — was also fully serviced and recalibrated, reinforcing performance while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

While drydocking is legally mandated every five years, it’s also a key opportunity to optimise vessel condition. Out-of-water access allows teams to address issues that aren’t visible during routine port checks — protecting both the asset and the seafarers who operate it.

For SIEM, it’s also a moment to reaffirm the standards we hold ourselves to: operational reliability, long-term thinking, and continuous investment in the fleet.

Keeping a modern PCTC vessel like Siem Confucius in peak condition requires more than box-ticking — it requires planning, coordination and technical care. Every overhaul reinforces our ability to deliver sustainable, high-performance service on key Atlantic trade routes, where time, volume and reliability matter.
