Every year, World Maritime Day is a moment for the global maritime community to reflect on the essential role shipping plays in our lives — and on the responsibilities that come with operating in one of the planet’s most vital environments.

For 2025, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has chosen the theme "Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity". It is a call to recognise the ocean’s role in sustaining economies, communities, biodiversity, and the climate itself — and to acknowledge that shipping, as the largest sector operating in the ocean space, carries a unique duty to safeguard its future.
